RULES AND REGULATIONS – 2024
APPROVED BY THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
2024
The following rules and regulations have been established for the protection and benefit of all the members of the Bustleton Swim Club and their guests. They have been established to assure safe and sanitary operation of the club facilities. Parents are requested to caution their children to observe these rules and regulations and to obey the instruction of the manager, lifeguards, and other pool personnel. Failure to comply with these rules may be considered the cause for suspension of the pool privilege.
DEFINITIONS
Recreation Area – Land owned by the Bustleton Swim Club.
Pool Area – the fenced-in swimming/recreation area including the Clubhouse.
Wet Deck – the concrete area surrounding the main pool and baby pool.
Parking Area – the gravel stone area east of the creek reserved for the parking of automobiles.
Picnic Area – white fenced-in area at Southeast corner of the grounds, set aside for picnics and recreation.
Penalty Bench – the red and white Bench located at the Guardhouse used for infractions of and disregard for Club rules. Duration of penalty to be determined by severity and/or repeated violations.
Adult – one who has reached their 18th birthday by opening day.
Child – one who is over 1 year old but has not reached their 18th birthday by opening day.
SAFETY AND GENERAL RULES
NO ONE is permitted in the pool water unless a lifeguard is on duty and stationed by the pool.
Children 12 years old and over are permitted to enter the Swim Club alone. Children under 12 must be accompanied by someone 16 years old or older. Children under 6 must be accompanied by an adult (18 years or older).
NO GLASS IS PERMITTED ON CLUB GROUNDS
All injuries, however slight, must be reported to either the manager or assistant manager.
Club equipment must not be abused or mistreated.
No weapons of any type are allowed on property.
No spitting, gum chewing, or water guns are permitted on Club grounds.
Children wearing swim diapers must have rubber pants covering them.
Adult soda must be concealed within a “cozie” or can cover. Intoxication will not be tolerated and is cause for removal from the grounds and possible expulsion from the Club.
Persons under the influence of intoxicants will be denied access to the pool property.
No smoking of any form, including vaping, is permitted on the club property except in designated areas (located at the pump house and behind the Clubhouse at the Member barn). Smoking is NOT permitted by teenagers at ANY TIME on or around club property.
No profanity or abusive language will be tolerated by anyone and is grounds for immediate dismissal from the Club.
Chairs and tables that are provided by the club cannot be reserved.
Bicycles must be walked onto the pool property and parked in the bicycle stands in the prescribed area.
Use of rollerblades or skateboards is prohibited within the pool area.
Lacrosse playing is not permitted on pool property, baseball is permitted using Wiffle ball only.
The use of the pool apron for sunbathing is prohibited. No chairs are permitted on the wet decks.
Once thunder is heard, or lightning seen, everyone must vacate the water as quickly as possible, stand clear of the wet decks, vacate sports courts and follow staff directives for taking shelter if needed. The manager or assistant manager will follow the PA and American Red Cross regulations which state that pool water, decks and sports courts must be closed until 30 minutes after lightning or thunder, NO EXCEPTIONS.
No one is permitted to play or hang out in the Member shed, storage sheds, first aid room, locker rooms or gatehouse.
Propane cylinders must be removed from the grounds when you leave for the day.
An incident form is available at the gatehouse to report abuse, disrespect or any type of grievance to club policies and rules. Please give the completed form to a manager or Board member.
CLEANLINESS AND HEALTH
Appropriate swimwear (bathing suit) is required – i.e. no jeans or cutoffs.
Use toilet facilities before entering pool.
Small children should be accompanied to the locker rooms by an adult.
Persons suffering communicable illnesses, skin disease, sores, fungus infections, eye, ear, nose or throat infections are prohibited from using the pool. The pool manager will bar from the pool any person who, in his/her opinion, exhibits evidence of the above.
No pets are permitted on club grounds at any time.
Food or refreshments of any kind may be consumed only in prescribed areas. No eating or drinking on the wet deck or sports courts.
Gum and tobacco chewing is positively forbidden in or around the pool area.
All trash and recyclables must be deposited in the correct containers.
CHILDREN NOT TOILET TRAINED MUST WEAR RUBBER PANTS WHILE IN THE POOLS.
Sitting on or putting your feet on the tables is strictly prohibited.
A changing area is provided in the restrooms – please do not use tables for changing diapers.
Members’ barbecues are only permitted in the picnic area.
AUTHORITY OF STAFF
The pool manager or lifeguards may, at their discretion, penalize or dismiss from the pool any person who violates the rules of the club, or exhibits conduct unbecoming a lady or gentleman.
The staff may prohibit or allow certain activities within the pool area when conditions warrant.
The staff may, at their discretion, declare the pool closed for health or safety reasons.
The staff may prohibit diving or ball throwing when, in their judgment, conditions warrant this action.
MAIN POOL
No one is permitted in the pool unless a lifeguard is on duty and stationed by the pool.
ADULT swims are for age 18 years and older members. There is no sitting on steps. Babies in arms only.
An Adult must always, whether in the main pool or baby pool, supervise children with swimmies or coast guard approved life vests.
No diving in areas designated 3-, 4-, and 5-foot depths.
No floating devices (except woggles) will be permitted in the main pool, except on designated float nights. Small inflatable rubber or plastic toys will be permitted in the baby pool ONLY. No hard, sharp, or breakable items such as buckets, shovels, scuba diving equipment, etc., will be allowed in the MAIN POOL!
Swimmies are permitted only with adult supervision.
No running, pushing, wrestling, dunking, rough play, etc., is permitted within the pool area. Management may prohibit ball throwing in the pool at their discretion.
The diving and swimming sections of the main pool shall be separated by a floating lifeline; sitting on, standing on, or pulling along the lifeline is not permitted.

BABY POOL
Children in the baby pool are always the responsibility of their parents.
Use of the baby pool is restricted to children ages 6 and under.
DIVING BOARD
All children under the age of 12 must pass a swim test BEFORE using the diving boards. Contact a lifeguard.
You must be 46 inches or taller to use the high diving board.
Please wait on deck behind the board ladder until diver leaves the board.
The Fulcrum wheel on the high dive is for experienced divers only. Do not
turn the fulcrum wheel unless you are qualified.
No multiple bouncing and no running off diving boards (one bounce only)
Do not walk backwards toward the end of board.
No handstands, cartwheels, or sitting on boards.
Do not walk back and forth on either dive board.
Dive directly in front of diving boards.
After entering the water, exit the pool immediately to nearest ladder.
SLIDE
"Swimmies" or life vests are strictly prohibited when using the slide.
The line will form on the deck at the bottom of the slide stairs.
Only one person is permitted on the slide at a time.
Do not go up the stairs until the person in front of you has hit the water.
The last person down the slide must be clear from the landing zone before the next person goes down the slide.
No traveling head first down the slide.
Must keep all parts of the body within the shute.
Immediately exit the landing zone after your slide.
ADMISSION AND POOL HOURS
Membership fees must be paid in full prior to admission to the pool.
NORMAL OPERATING HOURS 12:00 Noon to 9:00PM (Water closes at 8:00 PM).
Pool hours for special events will be posted on the bulletin board by the activities committee and the athletic committee at least 3 days before the event. Announcements with regard to these changes will be made.
Guests can only be signed in by Bondholder or Spouse. Rain checks are NOT issued after 4:00PM.

GUESTS
Each family shall be allowed guest privileges.
Daily guest rates shall be as follows:
Weekdays $10.00
Saturday and Sunday $10.00
6 Guest Passbook Special. $50.00
Holidays $15.00 on a reservation list only
Guest Discount after 5:00PM $ 5.00 per guest
Members guilty of violating the guest regulations shall be subject to loss of all privileges.
Members shall assume full responsibility for the conduct of their guests, and for any damage, breakage, or indebtedness incurred by such guests. Guests are subject to the same rules and regulations as members.
Members are to ensure their guests know the pool rules and assume responsibility for their guests. Guests 12 years of age or older, who are NOT water safe, are not permitted in the 5 foot or the diving area of the pool.
When sponsoring member leaves the pool area, sponsored guests must also leave.
PARKING AREA
Members shall drive slowly and carefully at all times in the club parking area. Please observe the one-way direction of traffic.
The parking area between the Barn and creek is for STAFF ONLY.
PICNIC/RECREATIONAL AREA
Members must abide by rules and regulations governing athletic activities.

RESPONSIBILITY
THE CLUB WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR LOSS OF JEWELRY, VALUABLES, CLOTHING, OR PROPERTY IN OR ABOUT THE POOL AREA, GROUNDS AND PARKING AREA.
ALL MEMBERS AND GUESTS, INCLUDING CHILDREN, USING THE CLUB’S FACILITIES AND PARKING AREA DO SO AT THEIR OWN RISK. THE CLUB WILL NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ACCIDENT IN CONNECTION WITH SUCH USE.
Any questions as to the meaning or interpretation on the rules for the use of the Bustleton Swim Club shall be determined by the pool manager, and approved by the Board of Directors, and will be posted on the appropriate bulletin board at the admissions entrance of the pool.
Changes in or additions to the rules for the use of Bustleton Swim Club may be made at any time by the pool operator or sub-committee with Board approval. Members shall be expected to abide by such changes or additions. Such changes or additions shall be posted on the appropriate bulletin board at the admissions entrance to the pool.
